St. Patrick, Patron of the Province.
The Passionists of Ireland and Scotland have St. Patrick as their patron Saint.
There are certain facts about his life and other disputed ones. Some say he was born in Great Britain about the year 385. As a youth he was taken captive to Ireland as a slave and worked as a herdsman.
After making his escape he wished to become priest. He felt the call to return to Ireland and work among it's people. After he was made Bishop for Ireland he returned and was untiring in preaching the Gospel an he converted many to the faith.
By the time of his death he left an organised Church throughout Ireland. It is believed that he died in 461, and was buried at Downpatrick.
