Comments: I am a piano teacher and formerly a Doctoral student in Piano Performance at Rutger Univ. in NJ. I have been teaching a 10 year old sweet girl piano for almost three years who has Down Syndrom. She's been progreesing so well that I am very amazed at her achivement because the thins that some of my normal students have been struggling with seems to have no difficulties to her. I am thinking taking more courses in areas of special education related to music therapy. I would like your information about any books or research or even graduate program that are focusing in this aspect. I felt a need to know the kids more who unfortunately have such illness without any choice.

Comments: Dear Olivia, Tom, Patricia, & John, I enjoyed your web site very much and particularly Patricia's musical compositions. Patricia used to surprise me by always remembering my first and last name, but that was many years ago, and I'm sure I am long forgotten, although I still fondly remember Patricia, who I think was the first child with William's Syndrome I had ever met. I am so glad to catch up on your news , and hope Patricia is still enjoying Cabinteely Comprehensive. Kindest regards, Carol Matthews

Comments: My partner and myself is doing a study of William's syndrome for our college human biology class. We are finding that most of our information that we have found is here on the Web and that little in our area is provided in books. We have become interested and very determined to bring this to the attention of other students and teachers in our area. It has become our passion to bring this to the attention of the people where we live, attend college, and visit our own family doctors. I wish you and your family well as the holidays come near. Sincerely, Michele

Comments: I am writing a paper for my zoology class. It has to be a disease that has to do with ones geneology. I started to write on Cerebal Palsy because my cousin has it but it is not always due to geneolgy. I really admire families that take care of their children even through medical problems. It is a real strain at times but what a blessing you get on the good times. My cousin is only five years old and when she enters a room everyone lights up. She is fortunate that hers is limited mostly to her legs and fingers. She is very smart and is already reading. I will remember your family in my prayers and may God bless you for taking such good care of a special child!!

Comments: We also have a 14 year old daughter. She is in 8th grade at our middle school. She attends regular classes in social studies, science, physical education, art. She is in special classes for math, reading and language arts. She is doing very well. The children at school are friendly and kind, but she does not have any that invite her on outings. Her peer group seems to isolate her. She is very happy though. She has an older sister, 19, and a younger one, 10. We are considering a move from Connecticut, USA to Dunedin, New Zealand. Thus my search for WSA web sites. I enjoyed your site and best wishes to you all.

Comments: very nice site. I actually have 2 friends that have daughters with Williams syndrome. I was just exploring a bit on line to see what I could learn. My oldest son has a rare syndrome himself, Sturge-Weber Syndrome, so I always find it interesting to learn about some of these conditions that exist that the general public has absolutely no awareness of.
I'm glad that your daughter is doing well. She's a beautiful child. Your pictures are lovely too.

Comments: hello, it is nice to meet people with children of the same disorder. Until three years ago my family had never heard of williams syndrome. My grandson john has ws and has just turned three, he is an adorable child but the hard work shows in my daughter's face! We live in St. Helens near Liverpool and struggled to get a diganosis from the doctors, finally they said it was ws. We use the internet for info, as this was the best source. John has an older brother called Aaron who is eight. Aaron looks after him well, but at times feels he does not get a lot of mum and dad's time due to john and his needs. john has just started school, attending in the afternoons which gives laura a break! thank you for sharing your story with us it's an encouragement regards gill webster

Comments: I really enjoyed your site. I would like to tell you of my reasons for interest in it. I teach adults with a range of special needs, I have a neice and a nephew with different special needs, I have a personal interest in the relationships between music and creativity in general and between music and spirituality. I am a published writer of short stories, poems, reviews (mainly in the UK small press) and I write drama scripts. I heard about Williams Syndrome by accident about a year ago and became increasingly interested in Williams people and their personalities. I am about to write a book that will follow a fictional tale but will include Williams' people characters. I have obtained the book 'Fulfilling Dreams' and have the video 'A Highly Musical Species'. I am tring to find out more and more about how it 'feels', what it is like, to be a Williams person.
I found your website extremely easy to read, to follow. I found the factual information useful. I found the photo gallery stunningly beautiful.
I enjoyed listening to Patricia's 'Jelly' and 'Unnamed piece'.
It's a lovely website.
If you, or anyone you know of or can direct me to, could lead me to more insight into the life of a Williams person, I'd be very grateful.
The more I learn the more I am inspired personally as well as 'creatively'.
I am writing my intended book within my MA in Creative Writing with Lancaster University (although I live in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire).
If I don't have the opportunity for further contact with you, all the best to you and your family.
Fi Benson

Comments: i found your site very interesting and so much more research needs to be done re Williams Syndrome. Our granddaughter Amy is now 21 and taking a work experience course at college in Calgary, Alberta with hopes of being hired permanently at general store. but also I'm wondering if you could give me a clue as to how to discover if my ancestor Mary Hill, wife of William could have obtained a medical degree in the early 1820s. As our history says that she obtained her degree in dublin.. They came to Toronto ,Canad in 1823 with 2 small children, and had 6 more. she continued her care of patients by riding about on horseback throughout the country. I'd love to get some exact information about her so that she can be recognized as a famous women Doctor.
Thankyou sincerely, Lorna Wray Lepper nutini

Comments: My cousin died on 15th February from diverticulitis and a clot from surgery. His name was Jason and he was a couple of weeks away from his 21st birthday. I am trying to help my aunty find out if there is a prominent link between WS and diverticulitis. His death seems so unnecessary ans strange as he was never a sickly person. He had abdominal pain when he went into hospital and they operated for appendicitis, found a perferorated bowel and performed surgery on that, as well as taking his appendix out that were fine. He was still in hospital over 2 weeks later and approximately 20 days later they re-operated on Jase and found his bowel was somehow attaching itself. Jase died approximately 3 hours later from a clot in his groin???
