Comments : My moms maiden name is Moylan, they came over from Ireland years ago. We would love to know more of our Irish relatives. I am in graduate school for Family and Consumer Sciences, however I am a respite worker for a little girl who has Williams Syndrome and she is my world. She will be 5 in April and seeing this site and knowing that we have a connection I would love to establish some sort of contact. If you would like to email me back that would be great, because I would love to hear from you as well as further tell you my interest in Williams Syndrome. I did a research study on it for my masters degree however the interest is more on a personal than professional level due to the fact we share the same family name and all. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Amanda Buck

There are not many Moylans over here, however, there seems to be a small pocket of them in Auburn, Massachusetts. Someday, I will travel to Ireland and do some serious research, but until then I must Google.

Comments : I'm an intern school psychologist and very interested in the assessment (cognitive, behavioral aspects)of WS. I have a very close personal friend with a grown daughter with WS, and just learned of the birth of a grand daughter of another personal friend with WS. They are struggling with the diagnosis and presenting heart complications at this time. Your daughter looks very sweet, and I love her red hair. I used to live in Aarhus, Denmark (did research at the Institute of Anatomy B at the Medical School in Aarhus), and your pictures remind me of some of the coastal places in Scagen with the thatched roofs and beautiful coastlines. Thanks for your very personal account and information. Rosemary Frederickson, PhD.

Comments : I had a 38yr old brother with WS who has recently passed away just 16 days shy of his 39th birthday. He was enjoying reasonable health and just dropped dead - we are waiting for autopsy results but it was either a massive heart attack or an anurism (not sure of spelling). So many people have told us 'well it's probably for the best' and I'm so glad for my brother that he didn't suffer, however - until one experiences the very special love that a family has for a WS child they can't understand the depths of our sadness in his passing. I hope that your daughter continues to thrive - God Bless and Angels on your shoulders.

My curiousity brought me to the computer to learn more about the families with Williams Syndrome members, how do they cope and what support is available to them and the siblings and extended family?
Reason why this particular area of interest with family is because my nephew suffers from chronic kidney disease and although there is a large support for him and my sister and brother-in-law, there is little for available for myself and my parents.
My blessings and love are extended to your family and friends,

Comments : I was watching Montel Williams show where the subject was Williams Syndrome. 8 of 10 symptoms listed were describing my grandson to a "T". I have been searching the web ever since and am amazed at all the wonderful information out there. We have taken him to the doctor, who knew very little except that the fish test would cost 4 or 5 hundred dollars.
We have no insurance,so I was hoping to find some information on grants or facilities that could help us in our quest to get him diagnosted.
The school system has been informed of our suspisions and are working to some extent but continue to pass him on to the next grade level when he can't do the required work.
His name is Christopher...soon to be 10 years old and a real challange at times. Music is the key to teaching him most anything. He is a happy, sensative, loving boy.He gets into trouble alot in school because he is so misunderstood.
I just want to help him and would welcome contact from you or other families with information to get this little guy raised safely.
I believe his mother also had Williams Syndrome and with no dyagnosis.
Thank you so much for your wonderful website.

Comments : It sounds to me like you had the same challenges that I had. I was in the military when I had my daughter and I went through hell. My daughter is now nine and I challenge the schools here at all times. They never listen to me and they do not want to. She is very behind in every thing and she hates school because she gets teased everday. I love my Jerrica and I wish there was more I could do for her. Her medical Problems are mild, which I thank god every day. I think Jerrica and I went through enough when she was a baby. She started crying at two weeks of age and did not stop until she was three. At two and a half she started gaining weight, she actually looked like she had down syndrome at the time. I had taken her to the Doctors over fifty times before she was three and the DRS just kept pointing the finger at me. Of course I was in the military so, I had a person coming to my house once a week to check up on Jerrica and I, and than they sent me in for depression. Any one would be depressed with no sleep and a child that cried all the time. I had went through about four babysitters until I found an older lady that just did not care if she cried or not. I tried to get moved to Arizona where my family was but they said, it was not waranted. I soon got out of the military and saw about ten more doctors until Jerrica was about six. Most of them pointed their fingers at me and said I needed the help. Jerricas teeth by this time were god awful so we were seeing a dentist, who actually heard a heart murmer. After about 15 regular doctors and a dentist finds the murmer! Isnt that funny. He referred me to a cardiologist, I love him! Dr Peoples is his name, and I think he lives by his name. Before I could even sit down, he said to me I know what is wrong with your daughter, I am 99% sure of it. Than he told me, she has Williams Syndrome. My heart lept, a big hunk of rock fell off my shoulders and I was saved. Someone did not tell me it was my fault. I was overjoyed. We than were sent for genetic testing, Her tests came back so postive that they had us come back so they could see Jerrica. She is a very tall girl, which is not williams syndrome, but she has the teeth, lip, frenulum, eye star, crooked pinky and she has mitrovalve insufficiency, which is not bad, we only see the Doctor once a year. Jerricas big toe on each foot is really big, do you know if this goes with williams? She also has gray hair and has already started menstrating? Any way thank you for sharing your info and letting me huff for a minute. Good luck with everything, I wish you and your family the best.

Comments : I started restearching Williams Syndrom for college (our teacher gave us the assignment to research support groups for WS and Marfan-Syndrom) and I stumbled across your page. It is amazyng how much strength there seems to be in you and wonderfull to see what a lovely young lady your daughter has become.
I know how hard it is to have a sibling that everyone is interested in (disabled or not), but I would really like to know what special problems there are for your son. My paper is due next week and I would really like to include some statements from siblings of WS Kids.
Since he is 8 y.o. and into LotR - maybe he'll like this site. I found it a couple of months ago, I think he might enjoy it :)

Comments : I am an elderly doctor in New Zealand and had many dealings with Dr Jim Lowe at Green Lane Hospital, Auckland, Where Dr William was his junior. Some think it should be Lowe' Syndrome. Do you know Dr Williams married Janet Frame the famous New Zealand authoress and that he has become a recluse somewhere in Europe?

For many years I've been looking for and trying to support mexican families. No success to have a formal association. Yor web site is lovely.

Comments : My name is Valeria Soutullo, I´m from Argentina and I speak English but not very well, sorry for the mistakes. My nephew has the williams syndrome, she is called Magaly. We discovered it at the age of 5 months, the strangest thing was that she ate very well and her weight was over the standard so the doctors were very confused, but we did the fish analysis and the results were positive. I'm willing to exchange information.

Comments: there is a whole gang of us moylans living in liverpool in england. we all look very similar; dark hair, freckles and mischevious eyes (apparently). We all have a naughty child-like sense of humour and a few of us like writing poems. The Moylans here like a drink, a bet and a good party and the cheifs-nanny and grandad Moylan (Peter and Margaret)are very religious. They are very clannish, having had 9 children and countless grand-children and great grand-children and they regularly travel to Ireland in a big blue fun bus. The next trip will probably be in May. Nanny Moylan (nee Fletcher) will be celebrating her 80th birthday on 5 April. Would love to hear from you and it was great finding this site. From Monica (Davies-through marriage, but Moylan-by birth) X
