Early in 2001, the PYM Youth Council decided to re-visit their aims and objectives and, if possible, come up with vision and mission statements.

Vision Statement

Our vision statement would be the ultimate purpose of the PYM. For this, we came up with "To be disciples ot Jesus Christ". This is two-fold in that we hope for non-christians to be disciples and also for existing believers to be even greater disciples of Jesus Christ. Our vision statement is displayed at the top of every page on the web site.

Mission Statement

Our mission statement says how we hope to achieve our vision. We based our thinking around Doug Fields ideas presented in his Purpose Driven Youth Ministry book. In it, he suggests that there should be five purposes to every youth ministry: 1. Worship 2. Ministry 3. Evangelism 4. Fellowship 5. Discipleship

Following a brainstorming session, we came up with the following mission statement:

to live the life
to show the love
to reach the lost

to live the life covers the area of discipleship - the way we live our lives should strengthen other believers in their walk with Jesus.

to show the love covers the areas of worship and fellowship. We show our love of God in regular attendance at worship and love for our friends in fellowship with them.

to reach the lost covers the areas of evangelism and ministry. We should be continually reaching out to those around us that don't yet know of Jesus' love.
