Brief History:

Milltownpass is situated 5 miles west of Kinnegad on the main Dublin to Galway road. The first school was built in 1856. Work on the present school started in 1974. The work was carried out by a local building firm, Christopher Bennett and Sons. The site for the school was donated by the late Dr. Fox.

The first staff at the new school was Mr. Sean Donoghue (R.I.P.), Mrs. McAuliffe (R.I.P) and Mrs. Wright. At present there are 82 pupils and 3 members of staff, Mr. David Gavin (principal), Ms. Winnie O'Dowd and Ms. Pauline O'Hara.

The school is a mixed school catering for pupils ranging from 4 years old until they leave for Secondary School at around 12 years of age. Most pupils go on to attend second level in St. Joseph's Secondary School in nearby Rochfortbridge.

The school offers a wide range of activities ranging from Gaelic Football and rounders to tin whistle as well as also encouraging students to familiarise themselves with computers.
