Milltownpass National School
Sport

The school competes in the Comortas na mBunscoil Gaelic Football championship in Westmeath in the 9-a-side competition. This competition is open to all 3 teacher mixed schools and 2 teacher boys schools. Last year(1999) the school were beaten finalists in this competition. The picture on the left is the squad of players for the final. We also compete in a winter league.

The school in conjunction with the local Community Games organises a rounders team. The highlight to date has seen the team win all-Ireland bronze medals in 1998, after winning both Westmeath and Leinster. This is the photo on the right.

The school encourages participation in P.E. and school teams and recognises the benifits of sport for the children in terms of their health and well being and also in terms of their overall development and education.
