Index Of Munster Writers

One of the research projects being currently undertaken by the Munster Literature Centre is the compilation of an index of major and minor Munster writers, to provide an information resource for researchers and the general public which could be accessed through the centre

At present we are in the initial stages of compiling the Index and we welcome any useful material from members of the public. We will certainly encounter some difficulty in collecting information on writers who have published their own work and are little - known outside their local area. If you have information on a local poet or author, who should be included in the Index, contact this office.

Mobile Exhibition

The Munster Literature Centre's Mobile Exhibition comprises 76 exhibition panels on 23 Munster writers. The exhibition is printed on high quality boards which range in size from 12" x 16.5" to 30" x 40", and vary between one panel per writer/topic to four or five panels per writer. The panels are professionally designed and incorporate colour and large print for easy and enjoyable reading. The presentation contains information on the writers, such as where they were born, aspects of their childhood and later lives which influenced the development of their literary careers, their styles of writing and descriptions of their short stories, novels and other works.

Writers in question range from Frank O'Connor, Seán Ó Faoláin, Patricia Lynch through to Molly Keane and William Trevor. Prices for this service are £60 for an exhibition on the life and work of two writers, £80 for four. A nominal delivery fee is charged for locations outside Cork City. Contact (021) 312955.

Munster Literature Centre - Fundraising Programme

The Munster Literature Centre is rapidly establishing itself as the primary focus of literary activity in the South. The centre hosts readings and workshops and coordinates school/community outreach programmes, mobile exhibitions, as well as archival research. While some activities are funded by the Arts Council we also rely on sponsorship from the private sector to meet the demands of an expanding event/installation programme
