This is a section of a mural painted on the back wall of the
General Purpose Room in Murrintown School.This mural was
painted by the children of the school in 1983.This section shows
the burning of the church in Murrintown during the Rebellion of
1798 In the background you can see the rebels being hanged on
Wexford Bridge.One of those hanged was the local landlord of
Johnstown Castle,Cornelius Grogan,who was a frail old man aged
72 when he was hanged.He was accused of supporting the rebels.
