Murrintown is a mixed school, catering for children from 4 to 12
years. Murrintown is unique in its location, 4 miles from
Wexford Town, Close to Fort Mountain and just outside the
grounds of the beautiful Johnstown Castle. The school has a
majestic view of Rosslare Harbour. Boats can be seen coming and
going to England and France from the
classrooms.

Our sports field is second to none, and provides the children
with acres of space to play their favourite games. Indeed some
famous Wexford hurlers such as Rory McCarty and Barry
Lambert honed their hurling skills on those same fields.

Murrintown is the 2nd school in the parish of Piercestown, the
other being Piercestown 3 miles away. The present school was
built in 1964. It was a two-teacher school. Previous to this the
school was what is now the Post Office. A large extension was
built in1984. A further extension is planned to cater for the
education of the 21st century.

Murrintown N. S. is under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop
of Ferns. A Catholic ethos prevails throughout the school.
However we live in a pluralist society and cater for other
religious denominations. Sound basic moral values, acceptable to
all creeds are cherished and promoted. Management, staff and
parent body respect diversity of cultures.
