5.0 Interaction of Pike with other Fish Species
Pike feed heavily on fish. They are not too concerned whether
they feed on roach, trout or smaller pike. Over the years there has
been much debate on whether pike should be removed from various
waters where trout are present. Pike are blamed for dwindling trout
catches. While pike will obviously have trout on their menu we are
convinced that lack of in-stream enhancement, poor water quality and
pollution have had far more of an adverse effect on trout stocks
then pike ever had.
