Welcome to our Web site!

China Orphans Trust, is an Irish Registered Charity, set up to form a scheme of relief for some of the millions of abandoned babies and children of China.

CHINA

China has the largest population, at 1.2 billion, of any one country in the world. As a consequence of the huge population growth, the Chinese authorities introduced the ‘one child per family rule’ in urban parts of the country in the year 1979.  Many children are abandoned at birth.  The state run orphanages are not equipped to deal with the huge tide of abandoned children.

We help these children.

China Orphans Trust was established in April 1996. We help organisations working in China. To date we have supplied medical and electrical equipment, basic supplies and thousands of pounds in funding. Our most recent project, in conjunction with The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation, involves the training of three hundred child care workers and the supply of basic assistive equipment for handicapped children in institutions in China.

In China 96 % of all abandoned children are healthy females, the remaining 4% is made up of handicapped boys and girls. It is simply impossible for the staff in orphanages to cope with the relentless tide of abandoned children.
