At a ceremony onboard the French Navy Command and Support Ship "Somme" under Commander Benjamin Serpe, on the 26th January 2015. The French Ambassador to Ireland Jean-Pierre Thebault, presented "the Chevalier de la legion d'Honneur" to Mr. Michael Dalton a former Royal Naval Officer and a veteran of the D Day landing and Liberation of France in 1944

Following the official ceremony the President of the Irish Naval Association Mr.Declan Pendred presented Mr.Dalton with an Irish Naval Association Plaque.
