Changes to Waterford Annual Mass Sunday 5th November 2006

The Annual Mass for deceased members of the Waterford Branch of the Naval Association will take place at 1100hrs. on Sunday 5th November 2006 at the Holy Family Church, Luke Wadding Steet, Waterford.

50 members of the Dublin Branch and their wives will travel to Waterford for the weekend. At the Greenville Hotel a special price has been arranged for the Dublin Branch Naval association at a cost of €110 per person sharing. This price will include 2 nights bed and breakfast (Sat/Sun) in en-suite rooms and Sunday evening dinner.

There is no parking facilities at the Granville hotel hovever, parking is available at the local municipal car park 1.60 per hour up to 1830hrs. after that it is 10 Euro per night. Most of us are travelling by train parking our car at Heuston Station 14 Euro for the weekend. Train for Waterford leaves at 11.30 arriving 1400hrs. You may like to know there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the hotel room so you may want to pack a travel kettle and cups.

On Saturday evening we will have dinner in the Granville Hotel at 1730hrs. At 2100 a coach will collect us to take us to Roanmore GAA club where the Waterford Branch of the Naval Association will host a social evening.. Later in the night generous portions of finger foods and sandwiches will be served. Music and song will be provided by Dick Quinn.

On Sunday Morning at 1100hrs. all members of the Naval association including the Naval Association President Robert Mulrooney will attend the Mass for the deceased members of the Waterford Branch. The mayor and other members of the city council will attend. The Garda Siochana and The Flag Officer Naval Service and Naval Service Reserve, Army and Army Reserve will be represented. Music will be provided by the Barrack Street Band. During the Mass the President of the Naval Association will present the new Vice Chairman's chain of office to Patrick O'Byrne who will then take his place beside the Naval Association President.

Following the Mass the Waterford Branch will again host a lunch at the Roanmore GAA Club and again entertainment will be provided by Dick Quinn who is very popular with all members of our association who have travelled to Waterford over the past few years.

On Sunday evening the Dublin Branch will host a special evening at the Greenville Hotel, for the Waterford members who travelled to Ginchy and Guillemont last month for the 90th anniversary of the taking of these two Towns from the Germans by the 16th Irish Division on the 9th September 1916. The Chairman of the Waterford Branch and his wife will be our special guests.

All members of the Naval Association are invited to this social evening. We have engaged a 2 piece band to entertain us for the evening. At 2200hrs finger foods including sandwiches, cocktail sausages tea/coffee etc will be served:-
