At the mansion House Dublin on the 24th April 2009, the Naval Association hosted a reception to mark the retirement of Captain Jim Robinson DSM from the Irish Naval Service. Also in his honour the Lord Mayor Cllr.Eibhlin Byrne hosted the drinks reception. Amongst the distinguished guests were the Flag Officer of the Naval Service Commodore Frank Lynch. and Mrs.Lynch. Former Flag Officer Commodore John Kavangh (redt.) and Mrs.Kavanagh, Commander Mark Mellett DSM (shortly to take over the responsibilities of Captain Robinson and in turn will be promoted to Captain)and Mrs.Mellett. Fr.Desmond Campion Chaplin to the Naval Service and the Naval Association.

Also in attendance was Naval Association members from the Dublin, Limerick and Waterford branches.
