Lt.Cdr Liam O'Keeffe who retires on reaching the maximum age of retirement for his rank,joined the Naval Reserve in October 1973. He was commissioned in Feb 1988 in Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick, along with the current OC’s of Limerick and Dublin. He was assigned as OC CUNSR in May 2008. Liam is married to Joan and they have 3 grown up children, Vincent, Fiona and Shane. Liam a keen golfer hopes to have more time in the future to work on reducing his golf handicap. Liam is also a member Royal Cork Yacht Club where he moors his boat, a 32ft Sun Odyssey called 'ORION' and now that time permits maybe a sail to foreign parts is on the agenda. When he is not on the golf course or his boat Liam fits in a bit of oil painting and one of his paintings, a tallship under canvas, was recently used as the Cork Unit Christmas card.
