The 574' long chemical tanker Iver Split renamed "Maasgusar"

1984 Built as IVER SPLIT at Brodogradilliste Split, Split, Jugoslavia for Iverchem Inc. (Iver Bugge, Larvik), Monrovia, Liberia. Building costs USD 32.750.000.
1985 Sold for USD 30.000.000 to Pulzar Maritime Corp., Monrovia. Renamed GUSAR.
1986 On timecharter to Nedlloyd Bulk B.V., Rotterdam, Netherlands. Renamed MAASGUSAR. 1988 Sold to Stolt Gusar Inc., Monrovia. Renamed STOLT GUSAR. On bareboat charter to Slobodna Plovidba, Sibenik, Yugoslavia. Renamed MAASGUSAR.

1989 Explosion in the engine-room 14/03 and fire about 50 nm South of Tokyo Bay, Japan (34.35N-140.55E) whilst on a voyage from Houston, TX, USA to Yokohama, Japan and South Korea with 25.700 t of 8 types of chemicals. The fire was violent and quickly engulfed the deckhouse and turned the deck and cargotanks into an inferno. The vessel drifted southeasterly until she broke in two and sank 19/03 in position 34.35N-144.24E. Salvage vessels found 4 burned out lifeboats but no one aboard. None of the 23 man crew survived, 19 from Philippines, 3 British and the Ships Master Captain James Rickard, from Ireland,
