There's an excellent entry in the Cleary's Garage Spring Doubles league at the Nenagh club. Almost 100 players are competing, with 3 divisions for the ladies and 3 for the men.
There's a lot of matches still to be played and with the deadline fast approaching, the advice to participants is to get those matches played as soon as possible. There's almost full booking on the courts each night at the moment.
The finals are scheduled for Friday week next 26th March, so it's going to remain extremely busy over the next 10 days. Finals night 26th March will be the first social night of the new season at the club.
Roger Spain of the 'Sound of Music' is again sponsoring the Junior Spring Doubles League at Nenagh LTC. Once again, there's a excellent entry in the league which has kicked off this week. There 3 divisions for the girls' and 2 for the boys's.
As in the senior spring doubles, it's up to the players to arrange their own matches. All relevant details, including the groupings, are posted up at the clubhouse.
The semi-finals and finals are scheduled for Holy Thursday 8th April. On finals day also, there will be a separate competition for the U.9 players. This will be run as a one day event. More details later.
Nenagh's great run in Division V of the Munster Winter League ended at the quarter-final stage on Sunday last when the team was edged out by Larkspur (Cashel). Larkspur are always a good side in Munster competition and Sunday last was no different.
It was 2 all at the end of normal play and so a reverse doubles play-off was required. Larkspur won this and so advance to next Sunday's semi-finals.
Well done to the Nenagh team on a good a run in the league, and a run which hopefully all players enjoyed. The Nenagh team on Sunday last was Eamon Spillane, Sean Reidy, Caroline White and Sarah Hanly. Other players to play on various occasions during the Winter included Joanne Lahert, Jane McGrath and John O'Meara.
