The Wednesday Night Social Tennis Evenings will continue on Wednesday next 2nd June. Again, the usual rules apply. Entries on board at clubhouse by 9 pm Monday evening 31st May. Schedule will be up by 9 pm Tuesday evening.
This will be the last social evening before the Joe Doran Cup competition which runs the following week, commencing on Thursday 10th June. More details next week.
Meanwhile, a number of other social tennis events are planned in the weeks ahead. One such will involve beginners and grade D standard players from Nenagh and other clubs in the area, notably Portroe where a new club has been formed at Killoran, Puckane, Templemore, Roscrea and Killaloe-Ballina.
The club is organising a number of Open Nights for newcomers/beginners to the game of tennis, commencing on Monday night next 31st May. These nights are open to anyone interested in trying out the game of tennis, or people who may have played a little tennis in the past and would like to try it out again.
These nights are open to all, non-members and members, who feel they would benefit from them. Just come along on the night at 7.30. Don't worry if you've never hit a ball before. The purpose of the nights are to encourage you to do so now.
Racquets and balls will be supplied and there will be someone there to provide tips on playing, etc. Participants only need bring along flat soled sports shoes (not black soles as they mark the courts). Refreshments will be available in the clubhouse.
Membership subscriptions, we are please to report, are coming in all the time. If you have not yet paid your sub, please do so as soon as possible. The committee is anxious to get all monies in as soon as possible this season, and earlier than in 2003 when members were not asked to pay until a little later because of early season disruptions due to the drainage scheme.
Payment may be made at Nenagh Credit Union offices, or to Brian Hanly, Hon Treasurer. There are a number of subscription rates to suit people's needs, including Family, Single, Groups (10 or more single memberships), Country, Student, U.18, U.12, and Pavilion Membership for those who do not play, but want to maintain their membership of the club.
