The Ring of Beara

From Glengarriff through to Adrigole, where seals congregate on the rocks, into Castletownbere, base for the Republic's second largest fishing fleet.

Out at the furthest point of the peninsula, you come to the Dursey Sound with its unique cable car connecting the mainland with Dursey Island. The nearby smaller islands are the Bull, the Cow and the Calf with the Skelligs in the distance.

Back around the north side, you find the picturesque village of Allihies with its copper mine ruins and a sandy beach.

After going along a stunning part of the coastline which was also the setting for the BBC production "Falling for a Dancer", you come to the colorful painted village of Eyeries.

Finally, spectacular views on your return via the Healy Pass.

Of course the route can also be reversed.
