In 1934 , the Sd Kfz 221 was developed as a light armored car for reconnaissance and exploitation.The design was basically an armored body and turret mounted on the German standard four-wheeled heavy passenger-car chassis.Two series of the Sd Kfz 221 were ordered and completed before production ceased in favour of the other light armored cars of the series.
