FOGARTY FAMILY INFORMATION

My information to date shows that the FOGARTY’S where from Templemore Co Tipperary.

My great grandparents where William Fogarty and Johanna (Annie) Gibbons who where married in July 1893, in Templemore. On their marriage certificate Michael was the father of William who was aged 26. They resided in New Row. Both worked as labourers. Johanna was aged 18, and resided in Church Street. Her father Patrick was deceased, but his occupation was listed as a shoemaker. I am nearly certain that Johanna was also her mother’s name.

Their children where, Michael (1895), Patrick (1896), William (1898), James (1900), Mary Ann (1904), Thomas (my grandfather 1906), Margaret (Sr Kevin 1909) and Joseph (JJ 1910). In the 1911 Census for Templemore. Johanna was listed as been a widow, with six children living at 47 Church Street. Her two sons Patrick and James died young while her husband William died some time between July 1909 and April 1911. Johanna died in 1949 in Dublin. Where she is buried we do not know.

Thomas my grandfather married Johanna Sheehan in 1925 in St Joseph’s RC Church, Glasthule, Co Dublin. Johanna born 1905 in Gorey Co Wexford to Thomas Sheehan and Helen Carney. They had seven children. Teresa, Joseph (Sonny), Margaret, Thomas, Mary, Joan (my mother) and Kevin.

In 1978 Thomas died in Blackburn, England and is buried there. Johanna died 1997 in Dublin and is buried in Fingal Cemetery, Balgriffin, Co Dublin.

Teresa married Patrick Hennessy.

Joseph married Sarah Keogh both deceased.

Margaret (deceased) married Robert Mulligan.

Thomas married Patricia Rafferty both deceased.

Mary married Louis Larkin (deceased).

Joan married Noel Gorman (my parents).

Kevin (deceased) married Phyllis Keane
