PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION
This association is a forum for discussion and for the
organisation of various activities related to school life.
The association is affiliated to the National Parents' Council
and is run in accordance with established rules.
The Northbay Parent Teacher Association is now set up and looking for active members.
Following the success of Parent Teacher associations in other Educate Together schools,
the North Bay PTA was set up in November 1998.
In the pre-Christmas period, a number of workshops were held to establish the PTA's aims, objectives and action plan.
Briefly, the aims of the PTA are:
- Provide a forum for Parents and Teachers
- Work with, and co-ordinate with, the other partners in the school to the benefit of the children
- Support the children in achieving their potential.
In December 1998, the existing active PTA members helped out at the Christmas Concerts and made a video of the great events.
'Censored' copies are still available for £8 for those who are interested!
Since then, the PTA has organised the Book Fair, which judging by the wonderful thank you cards
received from the children has been deemed a big success. To all those who helped at the Book Fair, "Thank you".
We are currently formulating a plan for next year and we anticipate that this will include the following:
- setting up a PTA notice board in the shared area
- making representations at the National Parents Council
- holding a Halloween family disco
- organising a family outing to the pantomime in January
- running the Book Fair
- running 2 workshops covering topics relevant to parents
With these events in mind, the PTA is actively seeking help from parents,
teachers and all those associated with the school.
In addition, we would like more new members for the committee,
which meets once a month during the school year.
All parents and teachers are automatically members of the PTA and anyone interested
in becoming an active member, either on an ad hoc basis or at committee level,
should please put their name and contact number in the PTA box in the shared area or contact a committee member.
