To all NWCC Members
You will be aware that discussions have been ongoing in relation to the future of the club.
The current position is as follows:
· Agreement has been reached with Peter Savill for NWCC 1ST X1 to play its home matches at Oak Hill cricket ground in 2009 season (The team will play under the NWCC name, but may use the Oak Hill logo). The fee involved will be 150 euro per match plus 500 euro security deposit. Net facilities will also be available for the 1st team squad in Oakhill (at no cost for 2009). Costs involved in playing at Oakhill will be met by the participating players.
· Discussions are ongoing with Avondale CC on a possible merger with NWCC. It is anticipated that, for 2009 season, there will be an informal coming together of the 2 clubs, and players will have the freedom to play for either side. Both sides will keep the facilities and venues as set out for the season, except in relation to the Junior C league where the teams will be merged.
· For 2010 season, it is proposed that the clubs will officially merge and pool together the player base, as well as the ground resources of Three Rock Rovers, Aravon, Rathdrum and Oakhill. The objective is to launch a new club for 2010 season. Insofar as Oakhill is concerned, the intention is that the team playing there will “trade“ under the name of Oakhill CC, but will be under the membership and management of the new Wicklow CCC (i.e. NWCC/Avondale)
The Leinster Branch has been kept informed and is supportive of these developments.
Members will be kept fully informed, and no decisions will be taken by the committee, that might permanently affect the nature or status of North Wicklow CC, without first consulting with all of the members at an Annual General Meeting or Extraordinary General Meeting.
