18th April 2007
Dear Member,
The 2007 Season begins on 21st April with our 2nds travelling to Avondale for the first ever league fixture at that venue. On the following day, the 1sts and 3rds begin their programmes and the 4ths season starts on 7th May.
The full fixture list (shortly also to include details of the Friday night Taverners match programme) is available on the Club website.
The Club Committee is currently finalising preparations for the new season and this includes undertaking necessary expenditure on club equipment.
Work is ongoing on the square at Aravon and we have to purchase a mower (in conjunction with the school) for this purpose.
Also, the various equipment bags (bats, balls, pads, gloves, helmets, boxes etc.) need to be replenished and a new equipment bag has to be assembled for the new 4th team.
All of this requires a substantial financial outlay by the Club and it is therefore absolutely IMPERATIVE that all club members IMMEDIATELY pay their annual subscription for 2007.
Annual subscriptions are as follows:
Adult Member €30
Student, Un-waged, youths. €10
You can pay this directly to the Hon Treasurer, Frank Kenny, Clifton, Greystones, Co Wicklow ( 087 2417134, frankkenny@vodafone.ie ). Please make cheques made payable to North Wicklow Cricket Club.
Please do this IMMEDIATELY as the money is URGENTLY needed to get the season off to a proper start.(It is the Committee's intention to organise further fund raising events in the near future. Information on these will be sent to you in due course.)
Enjoy the season.
Frank Kenny (Hon. Treasurer)

Awake all ye players from your winter slumbers!.
The last indoor Winter net session at St. Columba's takes place next Sunday 15th April between 4 and 6pm and then we’re up and running.
The captains are meeting next Tuesday 10th April to assess the playing resources and decide the registrations, so please let me or one of them know the extent of your availability, if you have not already done so, or if it has changed from what you previously advised.
The simplest way to do this is to let us know to which of the following categories you expect to belong:
1. I can play as often as I am selected, every Saturday and Sunday if required.
2. I can generally play either Saturday or Sunday, with a fair chance of being available to play twice.
3. I would prefer Saturday, but could sometimes play on Sunday as well.
4. I would prefer Sunday, but could sometimes play on Saturday as well.
5. I can play only once each weekend, but it can be either Saturday or Sunday.
6. I can only play on Saturdays.
7. I can only play on Sundays.
8. I will only be available occasionally, try me when you are stuck.
9. None of the above (please explain).
If you know of any players who are not on email, could you please pass on this information to them, and perhaps get them to answer the above question as well.
Also, if any contact details have changed, especially phone numbers, please advise.
Times of outdoor nets at Aravon have not yet been arranged, and may vary from time to time anyway. Keep an eye on the web-site to find up-to-date information.
Enjoy your season.

That’s great and Excellent work! I’m very happy for the whole of NWCC!! All the teams are doing very well and we can see that there is a lot of runs coming NWCC way! Next year will be a tough one going into the Senior 3 League, but the better the competition, the better it’ll make the boys! I hope everyone is still enjoying the craic and say hallo to everyone in the club. And Nicky………Nicely matured sun! Ha ha….Shane…OZ….Nice one lad…Excellent….Keep it up!

NWCC will field four teams in 2007
The Committee is very pleased to announce that the Leinster Cricket Union has agreed to accept a further team from North Wicklow CC to compete in the 2007 season.
The Club will therefore field 4 teams next season ;
1st Team Senior 3
2nd Team Junior A
3rd Team Junior B
4th Team Junior C
This development follows a very successful 2006 season for the Club and reflects the fact that the existing structure did not afford all players the opportunity to play as often as they would have liked.
The Committee is convinced that the Club can make 2007 another very successful season but it will need the strongest possible commitment and participation of all our members.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the upcoming Table Quiz and the AGM/Annual Dinner.

Hi Bruce,
What a brilliant year North Wicklow is having! Congrats to everyone. Its great to see Nicky, Shane, Eoin, and Ed leading teams over the last few years. But as exciting as it is to win a few cups and to be pushing for promotion, I would guess the club is just as happy that the thirds seem to be maturing into a really competitive team. It may have taken a few years and a few more Bridges but the runs and wickets seem to be coming a bit more freely this year. I am gearing up for the start of the new season in Brisbane and hoping that recurring knee problems have been left behind.
Cheers Dan
ps thanks for keeping the website going, I still read the reports and check out the photos as often as possible.

Great to hear from you Dan and best wishes for your coming season from all in NWCC - Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Hope you're keeping well. Just a quick mail to offer my congrats to the club and the firsts in particular on their recent YM salver win. Can't believe some of the reprobates from yesteryear (I'd rather not single out Shane and Nicky) now appear to be holding down positions of responsibility - with winning results. Still, good to see that Johnny Joyce is apparently getting younger and younger judging from the team photo from Railway. Hope all else going well at the club and best for the rest of the season.
Regards, Jason Michael.

Subject: Junior Cup Final
Bruce,
In contrast to Ozzie's attempt at intimidating people into coming to
the Junior Cup Final this Saturday, please find a list of positive
reasons featuring the entertainment highlights that will surround the
game, which should be akin to a "Party in the Park":
1. The return of the Milky Bar Kid (a.k.a. Karl Moore) after a 10 year
hiatus with his new catch phrase "Go Hard". Milky Bars will be on
him!!
2. The satorial elegance of the Egg, what daring fashionwear or
haircut will he be sporting for this truly one off occasion.
3. The return of the Ozwatch after a 2 year break. Will Ozzie be able
to protect his second's batting average of 103, which he has amassed
through only making himself available for matches on batting friendly
wickets.
4. The Captain's usually bumbling in the field with Committees being
formed to decide upon minor field placements.
5. The inebriated North Wicklow supporters on their first cup final
outing since the infamous Whelan Cup win in 1999.
6. And finally, this is the first time in 10 years that North Wicklow
Seconds have reached a final so you don't want to miss this occasion as
it may be a long time coming around again.

The Final will be this Saturday 13th August starting at 1.00 and the
venue will be Civil Service Cricket Club, which is in on the left hand
side of the main road through the Phoenix Park heading out of the city.

So in conclusion, I'd be grateful for the support of all those Club
members available and any of their friends/partner(s)/random dates, for
what should be an entertaining day of cricket but much more likely fun
in the sun.
Many thanks

Howdy Bruiser
I presume there will be a notice going up on the website outlining
that all club members not playing MUST attend the cup final next
saturday in civil service - NO EXCUSES! We might suggest every
club member bringing a minimum of 5 guests to maximse support!
It might be an idea to send an e-mail to everyone you have an
address for - to rally the troops...

Howdy NWCC,
This is Riaz from Dallas!
I am in US for some time on a business trip, hardly played any cricket
this summer and there is no match to the fun of playing in Ireland anyway.
I still miss all the friends in cricket and the time spent at NWCC and who
can forget those scenic grounds at Aravon and 3Rock!!!
Just saw the tremendous progress being made by the members esp. 2nds
on the website, pics, clips and juicy comments...
Wish you all best of luck and see you some time,
Bestest regards,
