Rape Crisis Network Ireland provides support, information, training and development for all rape crisis centres. Through setting standards, it promotes accountability, professionalism and reflexivity. As a resourced, woman centred, accessible and informed organisation, with national recognition, it supports the staff and volunteers of rape crisis centres in the interests of all survivors of sexual violence, through raising public awareness and lobying for change.

 

A voice for Survivors of sexual violence.

The RCNI represents the interests of member RCCs and survivors of sexual violence at regional, national and European levels.

 

At National Level the RCNI......

  • Is represented on the National Steering Committee of the Task Force on Violence Against Women.

 

  • Actively participates in the NGO forum on Violence Against Women.

 

  • Participates on national bodies and committees through submissions eg.

                                          Crime Forum.

                                          National Agreement

                                          Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Equality and Women's Rights.

 

At European Level the RCNI......

  • Attends and participates in seminars and conferences eg.

                                           COPINE [ combating paedophile information networks in Europe ]

                                           EU Expert Meeting On Violence Against Women

 

  • Is a tranisitional partner with the Campaign to End Rape. Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit of North London, in a project which addresses

                                            The limited attention to rape and sexual assault in European programmes.

                                            The failure of the criminal justice system to prosecute effectively.

                                            The absence of co-ordination, information exchange and networking across

                                            Europe on rape.

  • Through making contact and exchanging information, the RCNI, networks with similar organisations internationally.
