Neptune System - The Scuba Diving of the 3rd millennium

During the last 50 years scuba diving has been changing quickly from an activity only for experts, mainly with a commercial or military use, into an amusing hobby for millions of people all over the world. In the last 20 years, specifically, some equipment have completely changed the way of diving, increasing safety and comfort. Masks and regulators have always been two different units, except in professional uses. Why have we to think about masks and regulators as two different pieces of equipment, when every human being on earth breaths mainly through their nose and to speak it's essential not to have a mouthpiece in their mouth. Why have we to let a part of our face become cold or why have we to restrict our field of vision? Why should we limit ourselves when using these pieces of equipment, instead of having an integrated system?

The Ocean REEF challenge for the third millennium is based on these thoughts. It is the introduction of an integrated system mask & regulator with an underwater communication system.

The NEPTUNE SYSTEM is the Scuba Diving of the future.

The human race has evolved so that today a child is able to do things unforeseen by an adult 100 years ago. So, we are ready and prepared to use more sophisticated and complete means. We are ready to dive really like aquanauts to discover and conquest the last frontier on earth: the Oceans!

The Neptune System includes:

• NEPTUNE II
Diving full face mask and accessories

• NIRA
(Neptune Integrated Regulator Adapter)

• GSM - M101A - M105
Ultrasonic underwater communication units

NEPTUNE II Full face mask
The NEPTUNE II was designed for underwater utilization, using two regulators, and the ability to use communication systems (underwater to underwater, or, underwater to surface). The NEPTUNE II can use normal regulators, ones with a flow adjustment are best, and those that are OVER-INJECTED are not recommended (see note). The universal connection, (available in two sizes) with a DIN thread, allows you to connect the mask with most of the regulators on the market. NEPTUNE II was designed not only for commercial & technical uses, but also for recreational ones.

We use tech polymer protection treatments, which allow NEPTUNE II to be used even in extreme conditions. That's why Neptune II has a lifetime warranty. To increase the comfort of the mask, the weight has been restricted to below 600 grams.

NEPTUNE II has many international patents and
characteristics that make it unique.

• Versatility
It has one of the higher protection factor ever realized on a full face mask. This is thanks to a special face seal, patented, with a " spring effect " profile. The "spring effect" is achieved by a particular combination between the "double S" section and the inner support ribs. This allows the mask to "float" easily upon the face. Thanks to its adaptation, one size can fit 80% of the faces.

• Visor and relative field of vision.
The visor is completely transparent and made of polycarbonate, with a siloxane resin that increases the resistance to the chemical agents and scratches. The visor's light transmission factor is 92%. The visor has such a ballistic resistance factor to withstand impact of a steel marble of 1" at 540 Km/h. The angular field of vision is almost 180°.

• Adjustment and fast releasing of belt FRBII (Fast Rotating Buckle).
Straps and buckles are directly connected upon the stiff visor, transmitting in unique and even way, the seal pressure upon the face. Thanks to the new buckles FRBII (Fast Rotating Buckle) the mask is rapidly fitted and may quickly be removed by pulling the lower strap buckles. The “PolarTex” strap is made of a mixed textile, verses rubber, and is suggested for use in low temperatures.

• Air circulation and limitation of CO2
The air circulation within the NEPTUNE II was designed in a way to avoid fogging of the visor and to reduce the quantity of CO & CO2 build up of the inhaled air.  The exhaled air exits through the exhaust valve, located below the oral nasal mask.  With the use of the exhaust valve, it is possible to direct the exhaled air. The valve seat has four positions distinguished by a turn.

• 1st Turn:  Exhaust at left side
• 2nd Turn: Exhaust at right side
• 3rd Turn : Exhaust on both sides
• 4th Turn:  Interruption of Exhaust (no exhaust)

This last position is useful when in the head down position. In these conditions, the closing of the valve can interrupt the continuous exhaust.  This operation will create an air on demand situation; it will reduce the amount of undesired consumption of air and the cooling of the 1st stage and N.I.R.A.

• Pressure equalization
The pressure on the inside of the NEPTUNE II mask is also the same as the outside. This avoids the mask squeeze effect, which is normal with common masks when you go deeper, and eliminate water infiltration.
To eliminate the water inside the mask you have only to push the regulator button or exhale. The water will flow out from the exhaust valve.

• Tri-dimensional equalization system (patented).
NEPTUNE II has an equalization system with a tri-dimensional adjustment to fit every nose shape. This is made by  moving a little plate and two nose caps which rotate on an eccentric axis.

Pushing the upper part of the mask upon the face, the two nose caps will rise blocking the nostrils allowing equalization.

• Connection of conventional regulators.
The special adapter included with the mask, allows the connection of several kinds of regulators. The joint is of medium size. There is a small size is available upon request, as an accessory.

•  Use of an over-injected regulator.
Over-injected regulators are those that have a diagram with areas of inhaling effort lower than zero. These areas indicate an excess of air flow. So, these regulators can not be used with NEPTUNE II, becausethey are too prone to free flow.

Optional accessories.

• Optical lens support (code.33299).

• Small size connector (code 33020): for smaller regulators.

NEPTUNE II NIRA
NEPTUNE II NIRA is the integration of the second stage (NIRA) and a full face mask (Neptune II).
NIRA (Neptune Integrated Regulator Adapter) is an adjustable second stage, properly designed for the NEPTUNE II features. With the use of the NIRA you can get the best performance from the Neptune II. The NIRA has a double position deflector to eliminate accidental flows, caused by impacts on the surface. The inhaling effort is adjustable to different operating conditions and depths. The second stage NIRA is particularly made to be use at low temperatures, where the normal regulators usually freeze. The purge-button is oval and big for easy access. A special block protects the front cover from accidentally unscrewing.

Neptune II NIRA has obtained the CE Certification in accordance with 89/689/EEC directives under the UNI EN250 standard rules for underwater activities even at low temperature (<50 F°).

Neptune II NIRA is also available with a first stage.

Underwater Communication Systems
In the era of mobile telephones, underwater communication represents an essential evolution not only for safety, but also to improve and widen the operating conditions. To communicate means to exchange information and emotions in real time. It means to make the dive easier, more comfortable and amusing. It means to open new horizons to the underwater activity.
If you loose sight of your dive buddies or the boat, you are completely isolated, unless you have an appropriate transceiver. Ocean REEF proposes an underwater communication standard, which is solid, sturdy, and easy to use for recreational diving, research, training, commercial or scientific use.  It consists of a GSM, (Global Submarine Messenger) ultrasound transceivers/receiver, a  M101A receiver unit and a M105 surface unit.

GSM  DIGITAL (code 33105)
(Global Submarine Messenger)
The GSM is a transceiver/receiver unit that can be connected to the Neptune II full face mask, by means of a standard DIN joint. It automatically activates, and it transmits by pushing the button connected to Neptune II. You may communicate with the other GSM units or the M101A in the water, or to other units operating at the same transmission frequency (32.768 kHz) and to the surface unit M105. The GSM has been realized thanks to a very modern electronic technology of ultrasound transmissions, combined with careful studies of the acoustic peculiarities of the full face mask. This enabled us to filter the "dirty" frequencies, which are those generated by background rumors (air bubbles and mask vibrations), amplifying the signal and modulating to the right proportions. The GSM uses normal 9Volt alkaline batteries, and a dynamic microphone that has high acoustic features.

M-101A (code 33107)
Receiver unit that can be mounted on a conventional or full face mask. It is solid, sturdy and light. It has automatic activation. There is a battery warning signal which is activated when battery level falls below 7.8 Volts.

M-105 DIGITAL (code 33109)
A great performing Receiving & Transmitting surface unit.

• Double power supply:

NEPTUNE SYSTEM COMMERCIAL & PROFESSIONAL APPLICATIONS

The Neptune NIRA is used by Fire - Brigades because of it’s features including: the masks lightness, ample field of vision, easiness to put on or remove, stability at low pressure, resistance and reliability.  It has been used in the Dry-docks, where divers need to communicate each other and with the surface during the positioning phases of ships.

The mask has been used in all underwater activities, such as cable spreading, maintenance activities inside portal docks, recovery operations and technical assistance for boats. During these operations, the diver needs thermal protection, comfort, visibility, and the possibility to communicate.  Sometimes, the dives are for extended periods of time and in frigid waters.

To be able to breathe filtered air through your nose, and avoid the uncomfortable feeling of holding a regulator mouthpiece in your mouth, while at the same time protecting your face makes the Neptune NIRA mask an excellent tool to improve the working conditions.

In all operations involving polluted environments, the Neptune NIRA is resistant against chemical agents, due to the production materials used when manufacturing the mask. Police Force teams use the Neptune NIRA while investigating activities that involve rivers, lakes and sea diving operations. They appreciate the mask's lightness, sturdiness and the large visual field.

The mask is also used during underwater diving competitions for safety and to control the participating athletes by being able to communicate with the different operators and the surface.

The Neptune System is used by numerous scientific expeditions involving the following areas: Arctic Regions, Antarctica, Amazzonian regions, Australia, Pyrenees-Spain, Svalbard, California. Civil Protection Sections, Marine Biologists, Aquarium Personnel and International Marine Preserves use the Neptune System for its comfort and flexibility of use.
