What is the NWO?

Our cross-border group is composed of organic farmers, growers and consumers working together to develop the organic food sector. Our members' enterprises are both large and small, and they have interests in horticulture, livestock, cereals, processing and distribution.

The aim of the Group is to foster growth in organic production to meet the growing demand for organic food products.

At our 2001 AGM we decided to become a Limited Co-operative and we are now establishing the company, North West Organic Co-operative Society Ltd. The first meeting of shareholders is expected in Feb/March 2002. We welcome all shareholders. For more information please click this link.

Why organic production?

We in NWO believe organic production is a natural and sustainable practice. It minimises the impact of farming on the environment while promoting a healthy, varied rural environment and economy. Our members care about what they produce and how it is produced. All our organic producers are registered to EU and all legally required organic standards.

Consumers - the ultimate test of food quality.

We believe that clear consumer information and a better understanding of how our food is produced is vital. We encourage direct links between producers and consmers. Our consumer members provide an important role within NWO.
