Oaklands Lake coarse angling facility is situated on the outskirts of New Ross, close to the T junction of the N25 and the R733. Signs posted on approach to and at the junction.
This 64 peg four acre custom built lake, set in peaceful woodland surroundings, was opened for angling in February 2000. Water depth varies from 1 meter. to 3.5 meters. At present it is stocked with Tench and Carp. Bags of 20 to 40 lb were common during the year. A recent survey, .Dec. 2000, by South Eastern Fisheries Board recorded quality fish averaging 2 / 3 lb. Other species, Bream, Perch, will be introduced during Y2001. The facility is fully accessible for anglers with disabilities, access to the embankments is via an 8 foot wide ramp.
