O'Carolan College opened its second computer room in September 2001. This new room is equipped with 20 Pentium 3 & 4 computers networked for internet (ISDN), e-mail and printing. The network has a 24 port hub allowing internet access using a Net.Works unit. The system is completed with a powerful data projector connected to a separate stand-alone computer from which a teacher can instruct an entire class.
The software available includes Word, Access, Excel, Publisher, Web Design and TAS Books 2. Our students have access to a range of guidance software including Careers World and Qualifax. Our PLC class use this room to study computerised bookkeeping while completing all of their other ICT classes in their own computer room in the PLC building.
