Early recorded Flannerys in Ireland (8th - 18th Centuries)

14th Century

  • O'Flannelly, Vicar of Skreen, County Sligo before 1395

O'Flannelly is cited in the Annals of the Four Masters as the Vicar of Skreen-Adamnan in County Sligo in 1395; unfortunately, his Christian name is not recorded - possibly Thady Flannelly. Skreen-Adamnan (Saint Adamnan's Shrine) is now known simply as Skreen. The old church gave the name to the townland and the parish of Skreen in the barony of Tireragh. Saint Adamnan (624 - 704) was the follower and earliest biographer of Saint Columcille.
