The review of civil registrations for births, marriages and deaths has been strategically split into two sections, Nineteenth Century (1845/64 to 1901) and Twentieth Century (1901 to 1935), in order to highlight the migration away from certain areas. In most cases, this migration took the form of wholesale emigration to foreign lands of opportunity. In some cases, however, it reflected the gradual industrialisation of Ireland and the growing trend of leaving the ancestral farm for the relative security of work in one of the larger towns.
