HISTORY -

One Half Monk began in 1997 where they picked up first prize in the North Dublin Music Heritage festival. Subsequently the band toured and recorded and In 2000 One Half Monk released their first self financed 4 Track EP entitled "Rising Slowly" which was favourably reviewed by Ireland's leading music magazine, Hotpress who described the songs as "brooding, towering little epics…..with a musical inventiveness and a mature self assurance which belies their youth"

The band also began working with producer Peter Eades who has produced and engineered with Clannad (Warriors), Thin Lizzy (Thunder and Lightning) The Four of Us,The Dubliners, Bill Whelan, The Chieftans, Moving Hearts, Christy Moore (Ride On), and Donal Lunny.

Soon after, One Half Monk gained the alegeance of Anne Louise Kelly, formely of U2's Principle Management team, who very quickly, earned the band huge respect among the most influential promoters and broadcasters in the country. Having retired from music management, Kelly re-assigned the band to Livewire Business management in Limerick who currently handle the band's affairs.Livewire are responsible for such acts as The Cranberries and Westlife.

The band have also performed and recorded their own music in the U.S including a musical score for a social awareness project for a Washington D.C based production company, "Video Action Fund" which subsequently was broadcast on PBS. One Half Monk also appeared alongside Ani Difranco on another VA music project . OHM have also recorded a Dave Fanning session for RTE.
