Summary of Completed Actions For 2000 - 2001 Season

Rules & Regulations
* A new publication of the Rules & Regulations was passed at the Munster AGM. It is hoped that the new Rules and Regulations will provide a structure for the new Executive Committee to organise and regulate the Munster Branch.

National Schools:
* A National School Competition was held - West Cork Schools Cup, 16 National School teams entered.
* 2: U12 Munster Training Camps wre be held during the season.
* An ITTA Level 1 Coaching course was run and National School Teachers were invited to participate and 1 attended.

The West Cork National Schools Cup saw 4 new National Schools take place brining the number up to 16. The development was done through a junior club structure that feed the local National Schools with players, who were already involved on a club level, these players were introduced by open nights at Kinneigh TTC and development weekends in Ballydehob and Dunmanway during 1999-2001. It is hoped the estabishment of both the new Dunmanway TTC scheme and the Beech Hill Club scheme will have similar effect. The Dept of Education & Social Welfare have been approached as well as the local Corporations. A Pilot project is to be run during the 2001-2002 season with the Cork Corporation and the Dept of Education.

Special Olympics:
* Special Olympic club leaders were invited to participate on a Level 1 coaching course and 1 attended.
* An offer of a coaching day was made to the Munster Special Olympics and is to be organised early 2001-2002 season. (Confirmed for 24-25th Nov & 6th Dec 2001)

Links towards the Special Olympics have been strengthened. One Munster Officer is now envolved with the Special Olympics and a number of joint projects are planned for 2001-2002. A Special Olympics facilitator undertook the Level 1 Coaching Course and the Beech Hill TTC has created closer ties with the Special Olympics. An inter-centre tournament was held at the Regional Training Centre at Kinneigh.

Intercounties:
* An investigation into the development of a Munster Intercounties competition at either senior or junior level was undertaken by the Munster Branch.
* An exhibition was run in a county other than Cork/Tipperary during the season. (Limerick)
* Press release promoting table tennis was undertaken within a county other than Cork/Tipperary. (Limerick)
* A new club has been instigated at Limerick University.

Advertising of events in other non-participating counties has had some success. At Munster Rankings 2001 there have been representatives from Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford and Cork. These numbers are small but it is hoped that they will be increased. A new club has been started at Limerick University by Level 1 Coach Paul Lynch with the support of the Munster Branch. A Munster Senior Ranking is planned for 2001.

Women's Affairs
* The appointment of a Ladies Development Officer to the Munster Branch

A Women's Affairs Officer was appointed for the 2nd time at the AGM. A ladies team was entered into the Inter-Counties Championships 2000-2001. A number of women were asked to take their Level 1 coaching qualification and 6 in Munster have qualified to date.

Administration:
* The development of an instructional course on administrative procedure.

Publicity:
* A Munster PRO was elected at the Munster 2000 AGM.
* To find a New Sponsor for at least 1 unsponsored event during the season. (Mainport Cork Schools League)
* To further develop the profile of the Munster Branch Website.

Coaching:
* To identify suitable candidates for Level 1 Coaching. (a course was held during season)
* To encourage existing Level 1 Coaches to take their Level 2 Qualification. (not available)
* To produce a Munster Approved Coaching List. (Available)
* To produce A Coaching Pamphlet with information in regards to Munster Development. (Available)

Munster has had 14 members qualify as Level 1 Coaches. At present Munster also has Con Higgins as a qualified Tutor. It is expected that Owen Kelly will qualify during 2002. The continued initiative towards coach education saw 4 Munster Coaches attend the National coaching forum. The development of a Level 2 syllabus and continued educational opportunities needs to be emphasised. It is hoped that Munster will have 4 Level 2 Coaches by 2003.
The Munster Development and Training Centres at Beech Hill and Kinneigh are a priority within the Munster Development Strategy. It is crucial to develop both club and school structure in order to increase membership and improve the overall standard of facilities and performance. All Munster Development Camps are facilitated for the player and coach. Qualified and prospective Level 1 Coaches are invited to attend and are encouraged to participate within the coaching of players.

Umpiring:
* To run a County Umpire Course for Munster members.

The quality of umpiring within the senior game is very satisfactory but this is not reflected within the junior game. It was hoped that a County Umpire Course would be held during the 2000-2001 season but it was not possible to find a qualified Umpire to take the course!
