Summary of Proposed Actions during 2001-2002 Season

National Schools:

  • As part of the Local Sports Partnership scheme, launched by the Government. The Munster Branch has been in negotiation with Cork Corporation. It is hoped that through a partnership with local National Schools, Glen Leisure Centre, the Munster Branch and the Cork Corporation a pilot project is to be run during the 2001-2002 season to incourage community participation and club/school/community links.
  • The West Cork Schools Cup will be run again during the 2001-2002 season and it is hoped that National Schools from outside West Cork will also get an opportunity to become involved with a Provincial National Schools Cup.
  • A number of Development Camps are to be run and these will be targetted at children of the National School age.

    Special Olympics:
  • The Munster Regional Training Centre at Beech Hill will host a Munster Junior Squad Training Camp for U14/U15/U16/U17 players. Level 1 caoches have also been invited. As part of the Munster Special Olympic Coach Education Strategy a number of Special Olympic Leaders/Coaches will also attend. It is hoped that some technical and organisational two way dialogue will take place and this will enable a better understanding between each organisation. The facilities are being made available by the COPE Foundation in association with Munster Special Olympics and the Beech Hill TTC.
  • An inter-centre match was organised on behalf of Munster Special Olympics by the WCTTA, The Munster Regional Training Centre at Kinneigh, the COPE Foundation Cork and CoAction, Bantry. This gave an opportunity for players to prepare for the National Special Olympic Games and the raise the profile of the sport in the area. A number of spectators attended.
  • As part of the Munster Special Olympic High Performance Training Program a Training day has been arranged. The training is to be co-ordinated by the Munster Branch.
  • A Special Olympic Invitational event is to be included in the Munster Open and West Cork Open as demonstration events.
  • An Umpire's Course is planned for Special Olympics in order to raise the general standard within Munster.

    Intercounties:
  • A Munster Senior Ranking is to be run in Limerick.
  • Players from 4 counties are being invited to train with the Munster Junior Squad.
  • Community Games Representatives are to be approached and offered training/development camps.
  • The Munster Veterans Championships are to be held in Waterford.

    Women's Affairs
  • A women's team is to be sent to the inter-counties.
  • A report to be published on a survey done amongst female members.

    Administration:
  • Members of the committee are to be encouraged to under go training opportunities.
  • A Volunteer Charter & Policy document to be researched and produced.

    Publicity:
  • To further develop the profile of the Munster Branch Website.
  • To identify a product profile
  • To research/develop merchandise.
  • To increase sponsorship.

    Coaching:
  • Coaching Camps are being arranged for U12/U14/U15/U16/U17s
  • Development Camps for Junior & Senior to be held in Dunmanway and Beech Hill.
  • Level 1 Coaches are to be encouraged to attend training camps and appropriate Coach Education opportunities.
  • To qualify A NCDP Tutor.
  • To run a Level 1 Coaching Course.

    Umpiring:
  • To run a County Umpire Course for Munster members.
