Enrolment of New Pupils.
All places in both Junior
Infant classes for Sept. 2009 have now been filled and a waiting list is in
operation for any further applicants. Applications for the enrolment of new pupils
in St. Olaf’s for Sept. 2010 and onwards are currently being taken at the
Office. We would encourage anybody who has not applied, to do so as soon as
possible .

Christmas
Holidays.
The school will be closing
on Tuesday, 23rd. Dec., at 12.15 pm
for the Christmas Holidays, and will re-open on Wednesday, 7th. January, 2008 at 8.50 a.m.
The annual Christmas Concert for Infant classes
up to Rang 2 will be held in the Hall on Tues. Dec 16th from 9.30am.
Parents are very welcome to attend.

Christmas Fair
Our Parents Association report
a very successful Fair held in the school on Nov. 29th. Over €6,000
was raised and it is intended that the proceeds will go towards the purchase of
2 more Interactive Whiteboards. Thanks to all who donated goods and to those
who supported the fair on the day.

Christmas Carol Services
Well done to our Family
Mass Choir and to our 2nd Class Choir who performed so well at the
Parish Carol service on Sunday, 14th.
December.
We propose to have our School Carol Service in the school hall
on Tuesday, 23rd. Dec at 11.15 a.m.

The emphasis will be on
enjoyment and each class group will sing a short selection of carols. Space
will be scarce in the hall as the entire
school will be present, but there will be room for a limited number of parents
should you wish to join in the festive
celebrations.

Girls Football.
Congrats to our Girls Football
team who drew with Scoil Áine Shankill in

Host Families required.
St Olaf’s have facilitated the placement of Spanish
students (10 – 13 yrs of age) for some years now and are awaiting the arrival
of this years group. Rockbrook International, who promote this venture, need
host families to cater for their growing number of students. Competitive rates
apply. For details contact Niall at 4936692.
Voluntary Contributions.
A sincere
thanks to all families who have returned their Voluntary contributions. Almost
60% have paid and we encourage families, who may have forgotten, to send in
their contribution as soon as possible. All contributions will be receipted and
we emphasise that all contributions are valued.
With your
support, we will try to ensure that our school environment is secure, well
maintained and pleasant for our pupils, parents, staff and visitors.

Website Competition
We would
like to draw your attention to our school website (homepage.eircom.net/~olaf) which is an easy way of keeping up to
date with recent and upcoming events in the school. Children are particularly
encouraged to contribute to the site and we would love some short stories,
accounts of school life or tours etc, scanned / photographed artwork or other interesting material.
There is also a regular
competition for Pupils with some really nice prizes. Check out the current
Christmas Quiz and be in with a chance of winning yet another Selection Box for
Christmas! Good Luck
Maths Olympiads
We
re-commenced our participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad
Programme last November. This involves a squad of up to 35 Mathletes from St.
Olaf’s Senior Classes who partake in online Maths contests with students from
all over the globe. This is an extremely challenging event and necessitates
regular ‘training’ in problem-solving strategies. We wish all our Mathletes
every success and enjoyment in this venture.
Hallelujah Choir

Our senior choir had a
fantastic night in the Point Depot when they were joined by over 3000 other
children (the largest choir in
Chess
We have entered both Girls
& Boys chess teams in the Leinster Chess tournaments. Chess Club meets
every Monday after school.
Panorama winner
Well done also to Conor Doyle in 2nd Class
who was a winner in the recent Panorama competitions.
Iomáint / Camogie 2008
Training has already begun for next season’s
hurling & camogie competitions and it’s now time to root out the hurleys
and the helmets etc. from their Autumn & Winter storage. Hurley exchanges / trade-ins can be arranged with Mr. Murphy.
