Voluntary Contributions.

A sincere thanks to all families who have returned their Voluntary contributions. Almost 60% have paid and we encourage families, who may have forgotten, to send in their contribution as soon as possible. All contributions will be receipted and we emphasise that all contributions are valued.

With your support, we will try to ensure that our school environment is secure, well maintained and pleasant for our pupils, parents, staff and visitors.

Website Competition

We would like to draw your attention to our school website (homepage.eircom.net/~olaf) which is an easy way of keeping up to date with recent and upcoming events in the school. Children are particularly encouraged to contribute to the site and we would love some short stories, accounts of school life or tours etc, scanned / photographed  artwork or other interesting material.

There is also a regular competition for Pupils with some really nice prizes. Check out the current Christmas Quiz and be in with a chance of winning yet another Selection Box for Christmas! Good Luck

 Maths Olympiads

We re-commenced our participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad Programme last November. This involves a squad of up to 35 Mathletes from St. Olaf’s Senior Classes who partake in online Maths contests with students from all over the globe. This is an extremely challenging event and necessitates regular ‘training’ in problem-solving strategies. We wish all our Mathletes every success and enjoyment in this venture.

Hallelujah Choir

Our senior choir had a fantastic night in the Point Depot when they were joined by over 3000 other children (the largest choir in Ireland) in their annual concert. Thanks to Ms. Cullen for all the time and effort put in to practicing and indeed on the night itself.

Chess

We have entered both Girls & Boys  chess teams in the Leinster Chess tournaments. Chess Club meets every Monday after school.

Panorama winner

Well done also to Conor Doyle in 2nd Class who was a winner in the recent Panorama competitions.

Operation Christmas Child.

Sincere thanks to all children & parents who contributed to our annual Shoebox appeal for Children in Eastern Europe & beyond. This year we collected  291 boxes all of which will give so much joy to children suffering through war, poverty or natural disaster.

It only remains to wish each and every one of you a happy and a holy Christmas and every good wish for the New Year.
