School Calendar 2009-10 - list of school closures, holidays, etc

Green Schools:

Our new Green Team is currently being selected. This year our focus is on saving energy both in school and at home.

We still encourage children to bring used batteries and ink cartridges into school for recycling. We especially ask for old mobile phones because we are currently aiming to collect 500 old mobiles to donate to the Jack and Jill foundation. In return we will receive a free interactive whiteboard with installation, software and training. This whiteboard will be a welcome addition to a lucky classroom so please support our phone collection campaign. Just ask any family members or friends if they have an old mobile which they can give to the school. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Celebrating 40 years in Balally.

2008 -09 is the 40th anniversary of the opening of our school and we hope to celebrate this appropriately this year. Various events have been organised in this regard and further details will be posted here. Watch this space! Gallery 10

Corn na Laoch Finalists 2008 

St. Olaf's girls' footballers made history by becoming the 1st ever girls team from our school to qualify for a Cumann na mBunscol Final. They performed heroically in the final against Scoil Áine , Shankill and secured a very creditable draw aginst a physically stronger side. Final score after 2 periods of extra time was 1-5 apiece.! The replay was just as exciting with Scoil Áine eventually running out winners by just a single point. Score 1-4 to 1-3.

Rang 3 Poetry

Offers of places for September 2009 have been sent out to all applicants currently on file and an introductory meeting will be held at the school on Thursday Jan 29th at 1pm. DUe to a number of late cancellations there is a small number of places left for Junior Infants for September 2009.There are also limited vacancies in other classes throughout the school and these will now be allocated on a 1st come basis as per our enrolment policy.

Corn Cúchullainn & Granuaile were played on Friday 26th Sept at Naomh Olaf GAA Club. Congrats to all 3 Olafs squads who reached the finals of their respective competitions and especially to our Cailíní who retained the Corn Molly Malone in fine style. We also have 3 teams entered in Cumann na mBunscol Football leagues - competitions begin on Sept. 8th. Check out http://www.gaa.ie/cnmb for fixtures results and more......
