MISSION STATEMENT

Glansillagh Animal Rescue has been working to look after sick, injured and abandoned dogs and horses in Cork for over ten years, we are a registered charity (CHY16919) that works closely with the animals to ensure that they are treated with respect and humanity.
We have no statutory funding and up to now have managed to operate by personal donations only.
Our founder Barbara Bowles provides the accommodation for all the animals we look after at the Old Mill House, Glansillagh Mills, Sallybrook, Co.Cork, Ireland supported by a small team of dedicated volunteers.

HOW CAN YOU HELP

Last update:

We have the capacity to look after 40 dogs, and 25 horses at any one time, although we aim to increase our capacity to 100 dogs and 50 horses over the next two years.
The charity started working from the kitchen at the Old Mill House, and we are in the process of fundraising to build new dog runs and stables while continuing to look after as many animals as possible.
We have built relationships with a network of other groups working in this area both in Ireland and the UK such as the ACS in Cork, DAWG, The West Cork Animal Rescue Centre, the Dogs Trust and Hearing Dogs in the UK.
GAR has never turned a dog away and we undertake to nurse any animal to health (where possible) before trying to re-home them.
As you can imagine the cost of feed, medication, veterinary charges etc is rising daily and we need any help that we can get.
