Frontman Staley and guitarist Cantrell formed Alice In Chains in 1987, played Seattle
clubs and were signed in 1989 to Columbia Records, who made the band a priority. After
supporting Iggy Pop, Poison, and Van Halen, their debut, Facelift was an instant success. 1994's EP, Jar Of Flies, debuted at the top of the U.S. charts but the band never toured until 1996 and there were rumours about heroine addiction within the band. Staley became lazy and didn't work, making Cantrell releasing a solo album in 1998. Staley died of a heroine overdose on 2002, confirming the bands demise. |
