Led Zeppelin formed from The Yardbirds, which included guitarist Page and bassist Jones.
The remaining two members of The Yardbirds joined after Page heard of them from word of
mouth and in 1968, changed their name to Led Zeppelin. After the death of drummer Bonham in 1980, the band split, but reformed for various concerts but never returned to their original glory. They have been known for playing a large part in defining the heavy metal genre's sound and classic songs such as Stairway To Heaven have a timeless quality. |
