Lostprophets formed in Pontypridd, Wales, after Lewis on guitar and Watkins on drums
formed a band called Public Disturbance, but changed the format and name when Chiplin and
Gaze joined. In their home town of Pontypridd, they were ridiculed for their image; black crosses on their hands, baggy pants and tight t-shirts, but after crawling the pub circuit of cardiff, it became apparent that they were a band who were to be taken seriously. When Metal Hammer magazine gave their demo 10/10 and record label Visible Noise heard the demo, they were signed immediately and recorded their debut, The Fake Sound Of Progress. |
