Tony Flow and The Miraculously Majestic Masters Of Mayhem was a high school band started
off by Kiedis, Balzary and former guitarist Hillel Slovek in the late 70's. They were
influenced by the emerging L.A. punk rock scene and changed their name to the Red Hot
Chili Peppers. The death of Slovak in 1988 from an overdose blew the bands confidence but the arrival of Frusciante and Smith made their 1989 album, Mothers Milk, which was an instant hit due to coverage on MTV. The Peppers' constant reputation of being avid heroine users did not stop them headlining Lollopalooza in 1992 and selling over 12 million albums during their career. |
