We are located 1 mile from the traditional matchmaking town of Lisdoonvarna, which is Ireland's only operating Spa (famous for its sulphur, iron, magnesia and copper mineral springs) both of these traditions continue to this day. Situated at the start of the Burren region, and is but a short drive to the traditional music and fishing village of Doolin, you are guaranteed to be right in the heart of this magnificent corner of Ireland with your stay at Orchid Cottage.

County Clare is justly famed as being the "Home of traditional Irish Music" and in both Lisdoonvarna and Doolin, you can hear great Irish music any evening throughout the summer and at weekends during the winter, in the lively pubs and inns. Absorb the atmosphere, try your hand (or feet!!) at Irish dancing too, and truly take away this Irish experience. In our excellent restaurants and pubs, you can savour delicious seafood and local dishes and enjoy the friendly atmosphere wherever you go.

Orchid Cottage is the perfect base to explore the fascinating Burren region, renowned for its archaeological remains, botanical rarities and lunar like landscape. Rising from the Atlantic ocean in the west, the 600+ foot peaks of limestone rock were formed as the last ice age receded some 500,000 or so years ago. The fascinating aspect of this is the abundance of alpine flora more commonly found on the Continent. You may also take the ferry from Doolin to the Gaelic (Irish Language) speaking Aran Islands. These three islands are a continuation of the limestone formations of the Burren and a place to experience the 'old' Ireland.

Orchid Cottage is situated 4 miles from the Cliffs of Moher, the most spectacular cliffs in Western Europe. Ask at the visitor centre for details on guided walks along the cliff tops. Not for the faint hearted, but certainly worth it, you can see nesting puffins, fulmers and many other sea birds living in the cliff face. A further 5 minutes drive takes you to the 18 hole Championship Golf Course and seaside village of Lahinch. Orchid Cottage promises an action packed, fun filled holiday whatever time of the year you choose to come.
