How Sinn Féin got its name!

Established in 1905 Edward Martyn of Tullira Castle, Ardrahan, County Galway, was the first vice president and the second president of Sinn Féin!

Martyn was a friend of Arthur Griffin!

The name "Sinn Féin" was given to Martyn by Mary Lambert Butler of Bunnahow.

Mary was the grand-daughter of Ellen Lambert of Castle Ellen who married William Butler of Bunnahow, County Clare.

She was a cousin of Edward Carson whose mother Isabella was also from Castle Ellen, Athenry.
