Kayaks

UCG Kayak Club has an large fleet of boats in its clubhouse. As the Club's main activity is whitewater rivers, most boats are of this type. We also own various fibre glass racing boats, including Golas, Wild Water boats, and some K-boats. Club members also have use of a K-2, which actually belongs to the Galway Institute of  Technology (GIT - the old RTC).  The GIT also own a large open Canadian Canoe.

GIT also store their kayaks in the clubhouse. This results in a great pooling of resources which benefits both clubs immensely.

Some of the boats include:

  • 3 Perception Super Sports
  • 1 Wavesport Kinetic
  • 1 Pyranha Blade
  • 2 Prijon Topolinos
  • 5 Perception Dancers
  • 3 Prijon Hurricanes
  • 5 Perception Pirouettes S (We had 6, but some people who shall remain nameless, let one float out to Galway Bay in December 1997 - it was never seen again)
  • 3 Pyranhna Microbats
  • 2 Perception Sabres
  • 1 Perception Corsica S
  • 1 Enigma
  • 1 Perception Reflex
  • 3 Wrecked Rotobats
  • 2 kind of wrecked Pyranha Stuntbats
  • 2 Conquests
  • 2 Surf Skis
Plus loads of others of varying types (and conditions !)

Many club members have their own kayaks. These are easily recognisable as they are usually chained to the racks in the clubhouse. Personal boats include, Pyranha Blades and Razors, RPMs, Vertigos, Whippets, Jives, Xs, Inazones, Stubbys and Storms.
