Brown Trout, (Roach, Perch, Pike).
Lough Derravaragh (2768 acres) is at present managed as a
mixed fishery as a result of reduced stocks
of brown trout and a huge increase in coarse fish, particularly roach. Boat hire available
from lake shore.
Brown Trout:
Open Season: 1st March to
12th October.
Size Limit: 12 inches.
Angling Method: All legal methods.
Bag Limit: 6 Trout.
Coarse Angling: All legal methods.
Pike Angling: All legal methods.

LOUGH OWEL

Mullingar, County Westmeath.
Brown Trout.
Lough Owel is 2547 acres of very accessible brown trout
angling. Fishing is by boat only,
boat hire is available from Jack Doolan Ph No: 044-42085.
Trout of 1.1/4lbs to 2lbs are the norm,
but fish up to 7lbs are also taken. Excellent hatches of fly
are available throughout the season
but the Green Peter in late July and early August usually produces the best catches.

12th October.
Size Limit: 12 inches.
Angling Method: All legal methods.
Bag Limit: 6 Trout.
LOUGH ENNELL
Mullingar, County Westmeath.
Brown Trout (Perch, Pike).
Lough Ennell (3540 arces) which holds the record for the
largest Brown Trout (26lbs 2oz)
is an excellent Wild Brown trout fishery. Trout range from 1.1/2lbs to 6lbs. The lake
fishes
well, weather permitting, throughout the year with excellent Mayfly hatches. Access to the
lake
is excellent and boat hire is available for the lake shore.
Brown Trout:
Open Season: 1st March to 12th October.
Size Limit: 12 inches.
Angling Method: All legal methods.
Bag Limit: 6 Trout.

MOUNT DALTON LOUGH
Mullingar, County Westmeath.
Brown Trout.
Mount Dalton is a small peaceful fishery set in an
estate. It is stocked annually by the Board and
holds Brown Trout of good quality. Only one boat is available and advance booking is
advisable.

Brown Trout:
Open Season: 1st March to 12th October.
Size Limit: 10 inches.
Angling Method: Artificial fly only.
Bag Limit: 6 Trout.
Boat fishing only.
Book in advance.
Coarse and Pike angling not permitted.
LOUGH SHEELIN
Finea, County Cavan.
Brown Trout.
Lough Sheelin is classified as one of a dozen or so
remaining wild Brown Trout lake fisheries in
Europe. As such it is a valuable resource and will be managed accordingly. Covering more
than 4,500 acres
and holding excellent stocks of large wild Brown Trout which are not easily caught, it is
a limestone
lake with excellent fly life particularly its Mayfly. Fish range from 2lbs to 7lbs is the
norm and even
up to 16lbs have been recorded. Access is excellent and boat hire is available.
Brown Trout:
Open Season: 1st March to 12th October.
Size Limit: 11.82 inches. (30 cm)
Angling Method: Fly fishing and spinning with Artificial lure
only from a boat or shore throughout the season.
Bag Limit: 6 Trout.
Angling for other species is permitted from March 1st to October
12th (Subject to regulations).
Use of maggot, worms, live or dead bait & ground
is strictly prohibited.
IT IS THE POLICY OF THE BOARD TO SEEK A
VOLUNTARY RETURN OF ALL BROWN TROUT
BETWEEN 30th SEPTEMBER & 12th OCTOBER AS A CONSERVATION MEASURE.

LOUGH GLORE
Castlepollard, County Westmeath.
Brown Trout (Pike).
Lough Glore is a small lake (90 arces) which is best
fished from a boat. It fishes best in early
or late season. Glore holds a good stock of Wild Brown Trout of 1.1/2lbs upwards. Boat
hire is
available from the lake shore.
Brown Trout:
Open Season: 1st March to 12th October.
Size Limit: 10 inches.
Angling Method: Artificial fly, spinning only.
Bag Limit: 6 Trout.
