"Come and See"
Welcome to the Ballinteer Parish Cell Community web site. At
present we are preparing for our eighth national seminar
and if you would like all the details please click Seminar 2000 on left.
The seeds of the cell community were planted in 1987 when the needs of the parish were stated as “the pastoral care of
our young people, support for parents with teenage children, opportunities to deepen one's relationship with God and to
develop a deeper
understanding of the Sacraments that we receive."
In June 1990 the parish cell system came into being in Ballinteer. They are not clubs, not prayer groups, not scripture
courses. Rather they provide for each individual a support and an encouragement to live out his/her faith in the home,
school, neighbourhood, places of work and recreation. Experience has shown that they have gone a long way to meeting
the needs as expressed in
1987.
The parish cell system has flourished in the parish of St. Boniface, Florida, under the guidance of Offaly born priest,
Fr. Mike Eivers where there
are 500 participants. In the parish of St. Eustorgio, Milan, 700 take part in
weekly meetings.
The parish cell system is for every person who wishes to take his or her faith a little more seriously. It involves only one
and a half hours every two weeks. It is parish based and its spirituality is for the ordinary person
Who is it for?
For anyone who wishes to take
his or her Catholic faith a little more seriously than just Sunday Mass;
For the lonely person seeking
friendship;
For the person who does not
have faith but who is searching for something;
For the happy person who
wishes to give something of themselves to others;
For the one for whom the
bible is a closed book and is seeking help;
For the one who is seeking
calm and quiet;
For the one who wishes to
join in building a parish community;
For the busy person;
