Holy Cross Retreat, Ardoyne

The Passionists first came to the Ardoyne
in 1868 to 'no house, no school, no church'.
At first they lived in a rented house,
Edenderry Lodge. In 1881 the Passionists
moved to the New Retreat of Holy Cross.
A small Church had been built in 1869
and in 1902 the new Church was built.

Through the years the Passionists have
staffed the Parish of Ardoyne providing
Mass, Sacraments, Marriages and Funerals.
For over 130 years they have stood with the people in good day s and bad days.

The Graan, Enniskillen

The Passionists came to outside Enniskillen
in 1909 to found a house that would serve
as the training house for Passionist novices.
The Retreat fulfilled this task until it became
the house for Postulants in the late 1970s.
In the following decade this function ceased
and the Priests and Brothers moved to a
smaller purpose built house beside the
Public Church. The original house became
a Nursing Home.

All through the years The Graan has been
a spiritual centre for the people of a wide
surrounding area for Mass, Confession
and Counselling.

Tobar Mhuire, Crossgar

In 1950 the Passionists took over 'Tobar
Mhuire' as a Juniorate House to educate
boys interested in the Religious Vocation.
In 1976 it became the Novitiate House for
St. Patrick's Province. From 1982 the
buildings were gradually converted to
form a Retreat and Prayer Centre.

Today, besides facilities for Mass and
Confession, the Centre is a base for Prayer
Groups, Faith Development Programmes
and individual and small group retreats

Alliance Ave, Belfast

Founded in the recent past the house
on Alliance Ave, Belfast allows some
Passionists to engage with individuals
and small groups in an non-institutional
setting. They provide opportunities for
prayer development, counselling,
focussing groups, family ministry and
Faith Promotion works. They find the unity
of their work in the Passionist Charism
particularly as expressed in the reconciliation of the individual with 'self'
and with 'others'.
