Passionist Community, Salisbury Ave.

We want to share with you the brief submission that we sent to the Generalate in response to their recent request for submissions re: restructuring.

Salisbury Ave submission:

It is essential that any restructuring of the Congregation be it in a conventional or adaptive setting , be rooted in the Passionist Charism, more specifically as enunciated in the Memoria Passionis.

A memory that calls all who experience it to be agents of Hope where there is abject despair and human suffering of every kind. We recognise the suffering that flows from a profound sense of meaninglessness and its many symptoms such as the misuse of alcohol, some forms of depression, suicide and broken relationships.

Our presence, being a non-judgemental one within society, is to be "Hope awakeners" inviting people to discover a positive experience of the sacred that is within and outside themselves. We positively endorse the efforts of Passionists throughout the world to bring alive in fresh and dynamic ways the vision of Paul of the Cross as a remedy for the ills of the world today.
