THE DOWNS GAA NOTES
Division 1:
The Downs 1-7 Garrycastle 1-9
Our playing season got off in earnest on Sunday last when we met Garrycastle in The Downs. From the outset both teams showed signed of a lack of football, with scores at a premium. This did not take from a very competitive and fast paced first half.
On the resumption of play, the game really came to life, with both teams finding the target with greater ease than in the first. The Downs grasped the initative and were leading by two points going into the last five minutes, when Garrycastle sneaked in for a fortuitous goal. Despite the result, there is a lot that can be learned from this game and the signs are encouraging for the forthcoming year.
Team: Ciaran McCormack, Seamus O’Leary, Sean O’Leary, Stephen Cleary, Darren Devine, Brendan Murtagh, Mark Leavy, Fergal Fagan, Joe Corroon, Barry Conroy, Michael Murtagh, Enda Feeney, Keith Shanley, James Conroy, Brian Wright.
