WHAT IS THE FEMININE?
The feminine is an aspect of universal energy which manifests on the personal and the cosmic levels. It encompasses the mystical on the one hand, giving us insight into the oneness of being, which is the truth hidden under the illusion of separation. On the other hand, the feminine is close to the daily struggles of existence, rooted in the life of the body and of the instincts.
Feminine consciousness is by nature hidden, subjective and esoteric. For this reason symbols are particularly apt containers for working with the feminine, preventing appropriation by a too - eager ego, yielding it's mysteries only as we develop the right attitude. Caves, moons and secret gardens are all symbols that the psyche uses in our dreams to direct us to what Jung calls a period of "creative introversion". This is the period of gestation that allows the psyche to turn inward and away from the world, constructing the secret space, the primal womb in which the soul can gestate again and emerge with fresh form. In outer terms, this would have the effect of releasing us from the tyranny of an existence determined by past experiences. The psyche would be free instead to play, with endless choices to recreate it's destiny, and yet all from within the safe arms of the cosmic mother.
